the greatest showman, musical film better then i expect
THE GREATEST SHOWMAN (2017)
The American entertainer, Phineas Taylor Barnum, will always be remembered as the man with the gift to blur the line between reality and fiction. Thirsty for innovation and hungry for success, the son of a tailor manages to open a wax museum; however, he soon shifts focus to the unique and the peculiar, introducing extraordinary, never-seen-before live acts on the circus stage. Now, some people call Barnum's rich collection of oddities, an outright freak show; but, when Phineas, obsessed for cheers and respectability, gambles everything on the opera singer, Jenny Lind, to appeal to a high-brow audience, he will lose sight of the most crucial aspect of his life: his family.
The genre of The Greatest Showman
is drama musical. In this film, 70-80% have been told by songs. This film is
started by Barnum, is showing his action in the circus with singing also in the
end of the film. Those songs are catchy and easy listening. It will make the
watcher enjoys the film and want to sing together. There are many songs that
will be played in the film.
The lead role of the movie is played by Hugh Jackman, who brings all of his natural charisma to this performance. P.T. Barnum certainly has his flaws, often being too work obsessive and at times suffering from being selfish, which hurts his family and his performers. Zendaya brought a beautiful performance to this movie, helping to make Anne Wheeler one of the most popular Greatest Showman characters in the process. She's one of the lead performers and in the circus, her acrobat skills was cerntainly very imprensive
Bad part : I don't really like the scene where the opera singer approaches pt barnum, who is married, by inviting him to join the tour.
Favorite part :
1. REWRITE THE STARS with Zac
Efron and Zendaya...
2. The opening songtage Is
"songtage" a thing? A song montage? I'm making it a thing, in honour
of brave Hugh Jackman, pioneer of the songtage. The opening 20 minutes of The
Greatest Showman are basically one overlong montage set to music, starting with
a young actor fantasising about how he might possibly turn into Hugh Jackman in
later life. Wouldn't you know it: he does! Hilariously, the songtage expertly
portrays the passing of time by abruptly cutting from a 12-year-old kid to
49-year-old Hugh Jackman with slightly shaggier hair. Dreams can come true!
Maybe you too will turn into Hugh Jackman mid-song!
4. One section of the movie sees Barnum become besotted with Rebecca Ferguson's character Jenny Lind, billed as world's greatest opera singer, who doesn't sing opera and isn't that great. I enjoyed these scenes because I thought the film was good with this scenes and the singer has the power voice
Overall opinion :
The Greatest Musical, I absolutely
loved this movie. The soundtrack is amazing, the songs are gripping and
beautifully performed. The actors were all well chosen for their rolls. The
dance numbers were very well choreographed.
Score : 9.5/10
